He began his musical studies at SAMP in Pousos, Leiria, where he currently serves on the Pedagogical Board of the School of Arts and teaches saxophone and ensemble classes.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the National Higher Academy of Orchestral Studies.

He obtained the Perfectionnement degree in Maestro Jean Sébastien Béreau’s Orchestral Conducting class at the Conservatory of Dijon (France) and holds the “Specialist Title” in Music in the field of Conducting, conferred by the Polytechnic Institutes of Lisbon, Porto, and Castelo Branco.

In 1998, he was awarded first prize in the Fundação Oriente International Competition for Young Conductors.

Between 2004 and 2021, he served as principal conductor of the Wind Orchestra of the Lisbon Higher School of Music (ESML) and Artistic Director of the Silva Dionísio Wind Camerata, also overseeing the coordination and teaching of the Bachelor’s Degree in Wind Orchestra Conducting.

He is currently a faculty member and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Wind Band and Ensemble Conducting at ESECS, part of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the faculty at the Sherborne School of Music.

He is the artistic director and principal conductor of the AFCL Wind Ensemble, with which he has recorded wind music by L. V. Beethoven, Alfred Reed, and Serge Lancen; these recordings are available on various digital platforms.

É também maestro titular da Orquestra de Sopros de Ourém. Como maestro convidado dirigiu já diversas orquestras e Bandas Sinfónicas nacionais e internacionais tais como Orquestra metropolitana de Lisboa, Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra do Algarve, Orquestra clássica da Madeira, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Regional Lira Açoriana, Banda Sinfónica de Madrid, Israel National Youth Wind Orchestra, Blasorchester Südwind, entre outras.

Dirigiu também vários solistas tais como Haken Rosengren (Suécia), Jeremy Lake (E.U.A), Claude Delangle (France), James Houlik (USA), Pedro Carneiro (Portugal), Mário Laginha e Maria João (Portugal), Julian Elvira (Espanha), Irene Lima (Portugal) e Roger Hodgson (Ex. vocalista Supertramp).
