Alexandre Frazão

Alexandre Frazão was born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, and has lived in Portugal since 1987. He studied with Alan Dawson, Kenny Washington, and Max Roach.
His professional career has focused primarily on jazz and improvised music, and he collaborates with many national and international artists: in the jazz field with Maria João & Mário Laginha, Dave O’Higgins, Jon Freeman, and Mark Turner, among others.
In other genres, he has worked with Rão Kyao, Joel Xavier, Tim Tim por Tim Tum, and Jim Black. Some of the albums that best represent his style are: "Nocturno" by Bernardo Sassetti, "Filactera" by Mário Delgado, "Undercovers" by Maria João & Mário Laginha, "Tempo" by Pedro Abrunhosa, and also the recording of Rui Veloso’s DVD "O Concerto Acústico".
He has appeared on more than thirty albums by other artists. In 2002, he founded TGB (Tuba, Guitar, and Drums) with Mário Delgado and Sérgio Carolino, which led to the release of the self-titled album featuring his original compositions.
He has performed at numerous jazz festivals in Portugal and abroad, alongside some of the artists mentioned above.
