Trombone / Musical Direction

Grew up in the village of Carregosa, Portugal and began trombone lessons at the age of eight through his village's wind band. 

Since 2019 he is a member of the Komische Oper Berlin as Solo Trombone. 

He studied at the Music School of Espinho with Daniel Dias and Alexandre Vilela and at the Metropolitan School of Music in Lisbon with Reinaldo Guerreiro. In 2010 he continued his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Jörgen van Rijen, Pierre Volders and Remko de Jager. 

In 2014 he became a member of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker Orchestra Academy and later on at the Staatskapelle Berlin Orchestra Academy. 

André collaborates often with numerous  orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Staatsorchester Hamburg, WDR Sinfonieorchester, DSO, Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has also been principal trombone with temporary contracts at the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Gulbenkian Orchestra. He has performed in most of the major concert halls around the world and in recent years he has appeared as teacher and performer on various  festivals of music, Conservatories and Universities.
