AntiTrio is a group based in Porto, formed by students from ESMAE—the Higher School of Music and Performing Arts. Musicians Inês Luzio, Júlia Azevedo, and Pedro Santos formed the group in October 2016 and have been mentored by teachers such as José Parra, Fernando Ramos, and Sérgio Carolino.
This ensemble has sought to forge its own musical path, operating at the intersection of various musical languages—a possibility made possible by the uniqueness of this specific lineup. Their repertoire includes works by composers as diverse as Poulenc, Bristol, and Daniel Schnyder. Despite its still brief history, AntiTrio has already achieved important milestones: after participating in the APTE Festival and the ESMAE Festival in March 2017, they won the top category of the Chamber Music Competition organized by the CulturXis Association in partnership with the 23 Milhas Association in June 2017. At the 120′ mark of the video above, you can watch the final round that crowned this ensemble as the competition’s winner.
