Beatriz Mendes, a freelance trombonist, was born in Porto in 1995. She is dedicated to exploring the relationship between music and other performing arts. She is a member of the projects Mimo’s Dixie Band, Coletivo Breathe!, A Grande Orquestra das Mãos de Barro, Revolution (provisional title), Kamarád and Os Burricos. She is artistic director of the community art projects “Entre o passado e o futuro, a memória” and “Cantar-o-Lar” and producer at Furor Iminente – Associação and Coletivo Breathe! She is responsible for Community Music at Orquestra Sem Fronteiras. She carries out short-term projects with different communities. She took on the musical direction and production of the Purgatory Orchestra (2019), was a producer on the filming of the music video “Dia da Procissão” and worked as a booker for the company Valente Produções for the film “Sefarad”. She studied trombone at the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo and took the XIII Training Course for Musical Entertainers at Casa da Música. He continues to train in various areas of music, theater and cultural production and management.
