Daniel Schvetz studied piano and composition at the “López Bouchardo” National Conservatory of Buenos Aires and electroacoustic music at Ricardo Rojas University. He participated in the Latin American Courses on Contemporary Music and Summer Courses at IRCAM (electroacoustic resources). He studied piano with Roberto Brando, Moises Makaroff, and M. R. Oubiña de Castro; composition, counterpoint, and fugue with Guillermo Graetzer; and 20th-century analysis and harmony with Fermina Casanova.
He has traveled extensively throughout Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay as a performer and researcher. He has participated in jazz and pure improvisation projects, including “Luna,” “Canto Entero,” “El Borde,” “Duo Naka-Schvetz,” “Ophris” with César Viana, the “Septeto Daniel Schvetz,” “Moderato Tangabile” with tuba player Sérgio Carolino, “Pois é” with singer Sara Belo, and “Pianordeão” with accordionist Pedro Santos. He has composed for orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir, and soloists, notably the operas The Little Prince, The Deceased, and Conference of the Birds, Misatango, and the Concerto for Bandoneon and Orchestra.
