Sérgio Carolino and Cândido Fernandes are finally making their debut as Duo Adamastor. Convinced of the need to expand the Portuguese repertoire worldwide, and of the value in incorporating works by internationally renowned composers, they are embarking on a project in which the tuba and piano come together in the name of great music. Duo Adamastor presents its first album, featuring works by Eurico Carrapatoso, Luís Cardoso, Alexandre Delgado, Daniel Schvetz, and Howie Smith. These composers make up the first group of masterful creators in the art of musical composition; works were commissioned from them by the esteemed Sérgio Carolino and dedicated to him. The entire album, drawing on the diverse influences of each composer and shaped by the Duo Adamastor’s interpretive vision, offers listeners a unique experience within the realm of new contemporary Western classical music.
