Duo Low n’ Golden

Miguel Cardoso › Tuba | Telmo Rocha › Horn

The Duo Low n’ Golden was born from the desire of two longtime friends to make music together, despite the unusual combination of horn and tuba and the limited repertoire originally written for this formation. Formed by Telmo Rocha and Miguel Cardoso, the project seeks to explore new sonorities through programs that combine classical repertoire, transcriptions, and contemporary approaches.

Telmo Rocha studied at the Regional Conservatory of Angra do Heroísmo and at the Lisbon School of Music. He has been awarded in several national and international competitions, including the Prémio Jovens Músicos and the Paços’ Premium International Music Competition, and was also selected to join the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the European Union Youth Orchestra.

Miguel Cardoso studied at the Academy of Arts of Chaves and at the Lisbon School of Music, where he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Performance. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Portuguese Navy Band. He has received awards in competitions such as the “Terras de La Salette” International Competition and the Portuguese Tuba and Euphonium Association Competition.

The duo embraces a versatile approach, aiming to contribute to the promotion and expansion of the repertoire for this formation.
