Born in Nazaré, he began his studies at the Sociedade Filarmónica Maiorguense in the municipality of Alcobaça, later enrolling at the Tomar Regional Conservatory in the class of Professor Alexandre Vilela. He later continued his studies at ESMAE (Higher School of Music and Performing Arts) in Porto, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in bass trombone under the guidance of professors Jon Etterbeek and Severo Martinez. He regularly performs with some of Portugal’s leading orchestras, such as the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, the Lisbon Sinfonietta, the Orquestra do Norte, the Filarmonia das Beiras, the “Casa da Música” Remix Ensemble, and also with the Galician Symphony Orchestra in Spain. He is a member of the Portuguese Symphonic Band, where he has worked with some of the most prestigious conductors in this genre, and of the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra, with which he has enjoyed great success both nationally and internationally. He is a founding member of the stP|Trio project alongside pianist and composer Telmo Marques and saxophonist Fernando Ramos. In addition to his artistic career, he works as a teacher; he holds a professional certification from Universidade Aberta in “Specialized Music Education” and currently teaches trombone and chamber music at ARTEAM (Alto Minho Professional Arts School) and AMCC (Costa Cabral Music Academy).
