Ricardo Antão is a young solo artist and professor and a Yamaha Artist. Teaching at Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE) and at Universidade de Aveiro, Conversatório de Música da Jobra and at Academia Música de Paços de Brandão, Ricardo is one of the leading artists of the instrument. He is regularly invited as guest artist and professor all over the country, having participated as professor and soloist at the SliderAsia Festival, in Hong Kong, in 2017.

Having extensive activity as a solo artist and in various ensembles, Ricardo is a founding member of several projects, such ash: Ensemble Português de Tubas How Low Can you Go?, DualSim, Trítono, BlindDuo, Dual Soundway and NoMad Duo.

An advocate of new music, Ricardo has premiered works of composers like Daniel Moreira, Daniel Martinho, André M. Santos, Daniel Schvetz, Filipe Lopes, Bruno Ferreira, Alexandre Almeida, Bernardo Lima, Samuel Pascoal, Marco Alves and Matthew Murchison. He often plays with orchestras and ensembles, such as Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, 21st Century Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Camerata Nov’Arte, Mr. SC and the Wild Bones Gang e Big Band Estarrejazz.

Ricardo started his musical studies at Banda Visconde de Salreu, later joining Conversatório de Música de Aveiro Calouste Gulbenkian. After graduating with honors from ESMAE, he pursued his studies at Bern University of Arts, in Thomas Rüedi class, where he finished his Masters in Musical Performance. Ricardo obtained a Masters in Interpretation in Trombone from ESMAE, a Masters in Music Teaching, from Universidade de Aveiro. He is finishing is PhD in Músic at Universidade de Évora.
