Rúben da Luz is a freelance trombonist, a Yamaha artist, and winner of the Young Musicians Award, having performed with the Gulbenkian, Régie do Porto, and Clássica da Madeira orchestras.

In the pop and jazz genres, he has worked with Lenine, Zeca Baleiro, Tito Paris, Waldemar Bastos, Jorge Palma, Ala dos Namorados, The Gift, The Postcard Brass Band, Rui Veloso, Sérgio Godinho, Deolinda, Uxu Kalhus, Paulo de Carvalho, Fernando Tordo, Salvador Sobral, Áurea, the Hot Clube de Portugal Jazz Orchestra, L. U. M. E., the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra, Bob Stewart, John Ellis, Perico Sambeat, Luis Bonilla, David Taylor, Marshall Gilkes, Nelson Cascais, the Leiria Jazz Orchestra, the Nazaré Jazz Orchestra, etc.

As a studio musician, he has appeared on approximately 70 albums.
